Types of online advertising

We've all seen the adverts on different websites but what are the different types called?

  • Banner
    A horizontal ad format running along the top of a webpage above the masthead.
  • Button
    These smaller units take key placements throughout the site. They are branded and integrated providing a successful call to action.
  • Skyscraper
    These larger creatives run down the right-hand side of the page. Their size and proximity to content make them an excellent tool for changing brand perception and purchase intent.
  • MPU
    This is a large and prominent new advertising space set within the editorial copy, which enables advertisers to communicate their brand message extremely effectively.
  • Richmedia
    Richmedia provides a more sophisticated online creative, with an emphasis on entertaining the user, encouraging them to interact with the advert and engage with the brand. Rich media formats such as a page peel aid the advertiser in providing a richer experience for the user and richmedia can also embed video.
